Today I have a fun and simple gift that you and the kids can make together. These make great little favors or gifts for friends and neighbors. They are just too cute! And who doesn't enjoy a warm cup of hot cocoa after being out on a cold day?!
Supplies for each Santa
- Cocoa Mix, about 1-1/2 cups
- Marshmallows, about 1-1/2 cups
- Plastic Cones (Pastry Bags), 2
- Cotton Balls, 3 or 4
- Red Pop Pom for Nose, 1
- Googly Eyes, 2
- Red Paper, about a 6" square
- Hot Glue Gun
- Twist Tie
Fill one pastry cone with your cocoa mix.
You will use about 1-1/2 cups of cocoa depending on the size of your bag and the size you would like to make your Santa.
Use a twist tie to secure the bag closed like in the image below.
Trim off some of the excess plastic, like shown in the image below...
Next, trim a triangle from your red paper (I used some sparkly wrapping paper) that has a length as tall as you would like your hat.
Wrap your red paper around your cocoa-filled cone, and glue into place. See the uneven edges on the bottom? Just slip the hat off the cone after it is glued, and trim it up so it looks nice!
Next, add some glue around the base of your hat, and stick some cotton balls you have pulled apart to create some fur on Santa's hat.
Once the glue has dried (or cooled if you used hot glue like me), slip your cocoa filled cone with the hat into your second plastic cone.
Make sure your marshmallows aren't all sticky and yucky like these... DOH!
Thank goodness I had another bag in the pantry... only they weren't mini like I would have preferred.
Add enough marshmallows over top of the cocoa cone to create a nice-looking beard for Santa.
Make sure you are placing the marshmallows around the plastic end of the cocoa filled cone!
When finished with the beard, fold the end of the cone like you would when wrapping a package, and tape into place.
Use some hot glue to add a cotton ball (or white pom pom) to the top of Santa's hat.
Add some more hot glue to place the eyes, the red pom pom nose, and some cotton that has been pulled to resemble a mustache.
My kids thought the lopsided eyes made their Santas look more fun.
Make sure to add a little tag or label that explains how to mix the cocoa!
A fun and simple gift that the kids can make!
We will be giving these as gifts to their teachers this Christmas.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!!
