I have been trying to decide all day if I should say anything regarding the horrible tragedy that has occurred  only hours ago in Connecticut.  It saddens me deeply, and has brought tears to my eyes just as I know it has to many of you.  My heart goes out to everyone who has been hurt by these events.  If anything, I think this has caused many of us to turn our attention where it should be... focusing on the people that are important to us, and making sure they know they are loved.

So what do we do?  What can we do?  Situations like this may only create fear that spreads like wild fire.  We all pour our attention to the news and wanting to understand every detail.  Are your children seeing the news?  Hearing you discussions?  Seeing the covers of the magazines at the grocery store?  Are they picking up on your own anxieties?  When we focus on the horror, we wrap ourselves up in the fear, and this is passed along to our beautiful children no matter how we try to protect them from it.

Today, do not feel helpless and afraid... for your sake, and the sake of your children!  Smile at every person you see, share with people you might normally pass by, do something for someone you don't know. Talk to people! Engage in the lives of others in some way, to brighten their day... Brighten your own... Brighten the world!  It is not a dark place unless we chose to see it one... Unless we chose to create one!  BE the change and create the world YOU WANT to exist within, and teach THIS to your children.  If you have a chance to help those hurt most by this tragedy, find a positive and meaningful way to share this expression of love.  There are many people that could use that today.

Show your children that their days are filled with love, and teach them how to create those days.  Raise them to be the generation that never has to see such tragedies take place.  As a mother, that is what I want for my children... don't you?

May your day be filled with LOVE!
