Easter Crafts for Kids

Looking for some last minute Easter crafts?  These are some of the crafty things we have been working on in our house for Easter.  Some friends and I made the bunny baskets to give as Easter gifts to the kindergarten class.  My daughter Charlotte came up with the chicks all on her own.  I especially like the miniature chicks she created with pompoms!  These were all very inexpensive to make, and great activities for the kids!

Brown Paper Bag Bunny Baskets

Supplies
  • Brown Paper Sandwich Bag
  • Cotton Balls or a large Pom Pom
  • Glue
  • Colored Paper
  • Scissors
  • Bunny Ear Headband
  • Marker
  • Easter Grass (to hold ears in place)
Instructions

  1. Cut your brown paper sandwich bag as shown in the diagram above, with the bag folded flat.  Use the bunny ear headband to determine how low you will cut down.  By cutting off the grey sections shown above, you should have a strip remaining on the sides of the bag when it is opened up.  These will form the handle.
  2. Cut the extra piece of paper on the front and back of the bag with the bag open, even with your original cut.
  3. Cut circles for the eyes, and a triangle with rounded edges for the nose.  Cut a bow tie.  Glue into place.
  4. Using a marker, add the whiskers and mouth to your bunny's face.
  5. Glue cotton balls or a pom pom to the back side of your basket for the bunny's tail.
  6. Glue the ends of the handle together to finish the basket.
  7. Place your bunny ear headband into the bag for the bunny ears.  You can secure them into place by using some tape, or simply fill the basket with Easter grass.
  8. Fill your basket with goodies!

PomPom Chicks

Supplies
  • Pom Poms
  • Googly Eyes
  • Orange Paper
  • Glue
Instructions
  1. Fold a small piece of paper in half.  Cut a triangle with a point on the opposite side of the fold to form a beak.
  2. Glue a pair of eyes and the beak to your pom pom.  You're done!
Check out the miniature pom pom chick!
My daughter used air-dry clay (such as Crayola's Model Magic) to create the eggs.

Toilet Paper Roll Chicks

Supplies
  • Toilet Paper Roll
  • Craft Paint (yellow)
  • Googly Eyes
  • Orange Paper
  • Pipe Cleaner (yellow)
  • Glue
Instructions
  1. Paint your toilet paper roll yellow (or color of your choice).
  2. Fold a small piece of paper in half.  Cut a triangle with a point on the opposite side of the fold to form a beak.
  3. Glue the googly eyes and beak to your painted toilet paper roll.
  4. Use a pencil or your finger to curl one end of your pipe cleaner.  Wrap the other end around your toilet paper roll to curl it.  Place the large curl (from wrapping around the tp roll) inside your toilet paper roll to hold it in place.  See the image below.  Make sure the top of your pipe cleaner peaks out of the top!
